Squad Overnight Activity!

Objectives:
  • Strengthen fellowship among Squad Members
  • An opportunity for Squads to do “soft” Recruitment

Guidelines:
Squad Leaders may organize any activity for their Squad on 5 August 2006, but in accordance with the following guidelines:

What can I do?
  • Please plan to have as much fun as possible and strengthen fellowship! Take pictures!
  • Please maintain the highest levels of safety for all Boys.
  • Squad Members must stay overnight within the MBSSKL-Wesley Church KL area.

How much time do I have?
  • All Boys must attend regular Company Meeting from 12:30pm – 6:30pm
  • 6th August is Mufti Sunday – all Boys must attend the 10:00am service in appropriate attire.

How much can I spend?
  • There is no Company subsidy for this activity. Please plan your budgets wisely or contact your Squad Officers for help.

Can I bring friends?
  • Yes, you may bring friends – but only for the purpose of recruitment.
  • Remember, this is a time to bond with your older and younger brothers in the Squad, not hang out with your “regular” friends.
  • Since 1st KL does not have a Girls’ Wing to recruit for, it is obvious that no girls are to be invited for any part of this activity.

What administrative details must I fulfill?
  • Proposals – including budget and schedules – must be submitted to Squad Officers and Lt. Wong Giok Leigh (by hand or by email) by 22 July 2006.
  • Consent forms must be prepared and returned to Squad Officers BEFORE the day of activity.
  • All consent forms must be completely filled and signed by parents.
  • No Boy or potential recruit is allowed to participate in the activity without a signed consent form.
Please ask for permission early if you want to borrow any Company equipment or use any Church/School facilities.

Apart from these guidelines, you may be as creative as you want.

Relevant Information:
  • Please make all effort to include your Squad Officers in this activity.
  • You may download model consent forms here.
  • Contact Lt. Wong Giok Leigh (012-3232988 or bbleigh316@yahoo.com) for more info.

And Now Back To Your Regularly Scheduled Programme!

Hello all.

Sorry for the immense lack in posting. All of us were extremely busy with preparations for Pesta. A lot of other personal stuff required my attention as well. However, it looks like things are settling down a bit (though I think things will really improve - schedule-wise - by mid-July).

Meanwhile, I'll try to keep things here as updated as possible. Please forgive me if I don't.

See you all around!

Reminiscence of the past … (A tribute to Corporal Gan Tiong Wee)
Here’s to you, Corporal Gan. The corporal as I would imagine being a fine and functional rank. You have shown us the meaning of quality leadership. Your traits continue to shine on not only among your peers, but of those in different companies.

Enrolment Service (30 April 2006)

  • This weekend, we will also be practicing for our Enrolment Service. Please note that we have a two hour time slot from 2:30pm - 4:30pm to practice in the Church Sanctuary this Saturday, 29 April 2006.
The Enrolment Service is one of the most important programmes in our calendar. It is the day where we publicly reaffirm our commitment to the principles of instilling the good values of religion and character development, as enshrined in our BB Object – The advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among Members and the promotion of the habits of obedience, reverence, discipline, self-respect and all that tends towards true Christian character.

  • Enrolment Service is on this coming Sunday (30 April 2006) at the 10:00am worship service of the Wesley Methodist Church, KL (location map here). Attire for this occasion is Ceremonial Uniform.

This Saturday Is Awards Day & Parents' Dialogue! (1 April 2006)

Awards Day is one of the most anticipated days of the BB Company calendar. It is the day where Members get to finally see the results of all their hard work from the previous year - in the form of various achievement and academic awards. Of course, it will also be a nail-biting time as the Senior Members eagerly anticipate the promotions in rank of several Members!

This year, it is definitely going to be very interesting!

Held on the same day, the Parents' Dialogue session is an opportunity for Officers and Parents to discuss the progress of Members. Officers usually look forward to this time so that they can get to know their Members and their families better.

Pesta Sponsorship!

Thanks to the generosity of Lt. Michael Lor, up to 5 Boys will get to attend Pesta for free! All they need to do is to recruit at least 3 new Boys to join 1st KL Company and these new recruits must stay at least until the end of Pesta 2006.

In the event of a tie, the 5 Boys with the most number of recruits who have stayed the longest, brought in will win. However, if less than 5 Boys manage to recruit at least 3 new Boys respectively, then the number of sponsorships will just commensurate with the number of Boys who were successful.

Of course, you should also realize that if you are successful in recruiting 3 Boys who stay for a year, you will also most likely earn your Recruitment Award – Advanced.

This challenge is open to all present Members of 1st KL Company only – including the new recruits! All recruits must join before Boot Camp.

Now who is going to meet this challenge?

Membership Fees

Dear parents and Members,

1st KL Company is constantly seeking ways to streamline our administrative procedures in order to focus more time and effort on providing the best in training and development for your sons.

As such, we are pleased to inform you that from 7 January 2006, 1st Kuala Lumpur Boys' Brigade Company will be collecting our membership fees annually; and not weekly, as is currently practiced. The annual membership fee amounts to RM50.00 and must be paid up by 25th February 2006.

By making this move, our Officers will spend less time on administrative tasks and be able to devote their time and effort to providing well-rounded development programmes for your sons. We thank you in advance for your kind understanding in this matter and look forward to your continued trust, support and cooperation in 2006 and beyond.

Should you require any further information, please feel free to contact Mr. Cheong Sing Yuen (Company Captain) at 012-2084420 or Mr. Yee Mun Theam (Deputy Captain, Junior Section Head) at 016-2067811.

Thank you.
